using larger split shot sinkers or slingshot projectiles that are around 25 to 30 calibre would simulate a buckshot load. nine 30 cal projectiles is nothing to sneeze at.
I was thinking what if you used a crayon as the wax for the shot because the crayon wax is pretty hard and you can get big hard crayons for kids cheap.
Excellent video as allways Dave. Just one quick question though. At the 8:40 mark or so, I noticed your hand shaking slightly. Were you slightly nervous or just a little cold? If you were slightly nervous, I’d have to say I couldn’t blame you, I’d be a little nervous myself! : )
Dave, The steel BB’s are bouncing in the steel barrel. As they go down the barrel the energy transfers between the bb’s side to side, and back and forth. This breaks up the wax slug. Plus the weight different between the wax and the steel bb’s make them move at different speeds.

Nope, sorry. I just can’t see it working.
Wax and metal will surely break apart on firing!
You’d need some kind of amazingly strong and expensive, industrial glue.
I don’t use guns much but i do sling rocks a lot. Even from a sling rocks that are more tightly bonded than that sometimes break apart, just from the acceleration.
Mabey you could get it to stay a little more together but i wonder if it’d actually be better to spend the time finding solid slugs.
That’s my 2 cents.
Nice test though.

I saw someone shoot an arrow out of a reduced charge .410 shotgun on the Discovery channel. You being the archery and shotgun enthusiast will have a hard time resisting that one.
For the best of both worlds mossberg makes a 20 inch ” Security Vent Rib ” barrel for the 5 shot 500 series 12ga pump shotgun that comes with the standard assortment of 3 chokes.
I have had quite a bit of success taking smaller shot (#4, #6) opening up the shell and “cooking” the shot with the beeswax (parafin also worked) and then spooning the shot on top of the wadding. Then pouring more beeswax on top to seal it.
Modified choke definitely. This worked on my single shot 12ga (22″ barrel), my Rem 870 (as a breach load). Very little separation (if any) to the target.
As always AWESOME videos!!! Thank you for all you do.
Dave i think it would be safe to say you are looking at it as a Blunderbuss. Where they loadwd into it what they had at the time in order to wound or kill your target. Would that work here like using split shots, Sinkers, Pieces of nails or screws, Mabye even small stones or Pebbles as projectiles.
Iam enjoying these videos and this series as a whole. Thank you for all that you share with us Dave! Always going to be Debby Downers out there. Keep up the good work and thanks again!!!
A canoe is a small narrow boat, typically human-powered, though it may also be powered by sails or small electric or gas motors. Canoes are usually pointed at both bow and stern and are normally open on top, but can be decked over i.e. covered, similar to a kayak. In its human-powered form, the canoe is propelled by the use of paddles, usually by two people. Paddlers face in the direction of travel, either seated on supports in the hull, or kneeling directly upon the hull. Paddling can be contrasted with rowing, where the rowers usually face away from the direction of travel and use mounted oars though a wide canoe can be fitted with oarlocks and rowed. Paddles may be single-bladed or double-bladed.

Dave what do you think about the single shot H&R .410…I was thinking this would be a useful gun due to it being able to shoot .45 long colt rounds.
